About Roosevelt Collier

Soft-spoken by nature but thunderous in sound, South Florida native Roosevelt Collier does his talking through the pedal steel guitar. Raised in the “sacred steel” tradition of the House of God Church, Roosevelt first made his mark performing with his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, celebrated for their high-energy, soul-stirring live shows. Seated front and center, “The Dr.” captivates audiences with his lightning-fast slide work and undeniable musical charisma.

A festival favorite and frequent “Artist at Large,” Roosevelt has shared the stage with some of the most revered names in music, including Jelly Roll, The Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos, and The Del McCoury Band, among countless others.

In 2017, Roosevelt joined forces with Snarky Puppy’s Michael League to form Bokanté, a world music supergroup featuring the powerhouse vocals of Malika Tirolien. As a bandleader, Roosevelt commands his famed “Get-Downs,” a genre-blending experience that brings together superstars, church musicians, and jam-band icons alike. His debut solo album, released in 2018 and produced by League, delivers a masterful fusion of blues, gospel, rock, and funk—a sound that is distinctly and unmistakably Roosevelt Collier.
